Avionics
avionics

A demonstration panel that contains a range of avionics kindly supplied by Garmin has been built to support both the Electrics and Avionics courses. The panel has been designed to practically demonstrate not only a range of modern avionics, but just as importantly how they should be wired up and interconnected. The panel also demonstrates modern power management and distribution systems with the kind load from Vertical Power of their VP50 system. Behind the avionics section of the panel is a mock firewall which shows how a typical permit aircraft's battery, contactors, alternator and earthing system may be interconnected.

In addition to the main demonstration panel, there is a slightly smaller avionics demonstration panel with equipment kindly loaned by Dynon. Airbox has also been extremely generous in loaning the LAAET courses an Aware, a Clarity and a Foresight unit.  And Kannad has kindly loaned demonstration units of their popular ELT and PLB ranges.

The support from all these companies has been fantastic and significantly enhances the value of these very popular courses.

This course provides an introduction to typical permit aircraft avionics, their selection and installation.  The course assumes no previous knowledge or attendance of the aircraft electrics course.

Please bring note pad and pen and consider a camera / camera phone as many people like to take pictures of elements of the demo panel
