Slot bookings must be made viathe Sywell Aerodrome website.

LIMITED ARRIVALS SLOTS

We most definitely don’t want to start getting difficult about booking a slot, but last year the number of arrivals slots available each hour was reduced, at the discretion of the CAA, and although there are still a lot of slots available each day, the possibility of the event being over-subscribed is very real. That’s because too many people book a slot for two, or even three days when they only intend coming on one day.

Please only book the slot that you intended to use because every extra one you book and don’t use is robbing a fellow member of the opportunity of attending. This is becoming a major problem and we estimate that at least 25 per cent of slot times are double-booked in case of weather.

If, for some reason, you can’t use your slot, cancel it, and if you want to re-arrange another, telephone Sywell, which will do its best to arrange another one as near to when you want to come as is possible. We’ll publish the appropriate phone number next month.

For the first time, we have slots available on Thursday afternoon, from 1400 till 1800 local, but please note that the Rally doesn’t officially open until Friday morning. However, arriving on Thursday is a good option for those who wish to avoid the often busy Friday and Saturday.

Please note: Slot times are local time.

No arrivals are permitted between 15:00 and 17:59 on Friday and Saturday due the density of departing traffic - these slots are therefore unavailable for booking.

For the first time, slots will be available on Thursday afternoon from 1400 to 1800 for those who wish to arrive prior to the official start of the event on Friday morning.

Detailed joining instructions and an illustrated arrivals and aerodrome guide is now - AIC Y 049/2017.

The slot system is not an overly rigid system but is aimed at creating a safe and steady flow of traffic and providing AFIS with aircraft details. However, pilots are requested to try and adhere to their slots. If weather or unserviceability on the day affects your ability to use your slot, PLEASE CANCEL IT on line if possible, and telephone Sywell AFIS on 01604 644917 to re-arrange a new slot.
