Based on the current Government advice on Covid-19 precautions for the summer, the LAA has regretfully elected to cancel its 2021 Round-Britain Tour which was to be held at the end of May. The event will be replaced by an LAA Anniversary Mini-Tour, which will commence at Henstridge in Somerset on Sunday 4th July and conclude at Leicester on Thursday 8th July, after visiting airfields in Cornwall, the Midlands and northern England.

"We had high hopes of being able to run a full Round-Britain event and we had more than 90 booked participants" said LAA Tour organiser Neil Wilson. "However the continuing restrictions would have seriously reduced the social elements of the tour and we also don't know what rules Scotland and Wales are planning at the moment. We felt an early decision will allow participants to plan other things for the end of May, and many have already signed up for the Anniversary Mini Tour around England from the 4th July to the 8th. Hopefully all restrictions will have been lifted from the 21st June."

The new tour, which is part of the LAA's 75th Anniversary commemorations will start to gather at The Meet the LAA Day and Wessex Strut Fly-in at Henstridge on the 4th July. People can stay over on the 4th (camping allowed with evening meal and breakfast the next morning). 5th July; We head off to Bodmin for an overnight (camping allowed plus evening meal and breakfast). This will also give people the chance to fly down on the Monday if they cannot do Sunday. We plan to have Dunkeswell as a lunch/coffee stop. 6th July ; Head for Barton - via Kemble for coffee and Shobdon for lunch or Wolverhampton (all TBC). This also gives people the chance to join up as we fly north. Barton overnight (camping allowed). Evening meal and breakfast served. 7th July ; Head north east to Eshott for lunch (BBQ). Then down the coast to Breighton for a night stop. We will be able to see the wonderful collection of old aeroplanes based there. Evening meal/breakfast served and camping allowed). 8th July ; Onto Leicester for lunch (BBQ) before heading home.

In addition to the tour, the LAA is planning a series of 'Meet the LAA' events, including Henstridge on July 4th, the "We All Fly" day at Rufforth East in Yorkshire on 31st July and at Headcorn on 18th September. Plans are also well underway for the LAA 75th ANNIVERSARY RALLY at Sywell on 3rd, 4th and 5th September.
