Barry Plumb - Director and Chairman of LAA's Engineering Committee
Barry Plumb

Barry Plumb

I joined the Board in 2005. I am a professional engineer working in the building services industry, and have been a member of LAA since 1974, having been inspired by the Rally.

I designed my own single seat bi-plane, completing it in 1986, and have enjoyed flying it for over 800 hours since. I have also completed a kit built clip wing Super Cub replica with two partners. I am an active Chiltern Strut member and supporter of VAC activities.

The LAA is a precious source for those of us who aspire to design, build and fly our own aircraft, and in today's increasingly regulated society it is vital that we remain active in protecting our members interests. I assist in any way I can to maintain and improve the effectiveness and capability of the Association. This includes working on the executive of the European Federation for Light Experimental and Vintage Aircraft (EFLEVA), and regular involvement in EASA initiatives.

I have spent a great effort on research into alternative fuels to replace 100LL, including Mogas and Unleaded Avgas, which will liberate our members from the requirement to use leaded fuels in the near future.
