I served on the Board during 1997-2001 leaving to become a Whip and spokesperson on the Opposition front bench, retiring after the last election as Whip and Spokesperson for the EDFRA including Transport and Aviation.
My interest in aviation started in the school CCF. My first job was on the petrol pumps at Kidlington where I later learned to fly fixed wing. I subsequently worked at Bristow helicopters and learned to fly rotary aircraft. I have built a number of homebuilds, including a Glassier IIRG which I flew to Pakistan, USA and South Africa. I am a currently building a RV8 hold a PPL and am an Instrument Rating pilot.
I am involved in debates on aviation in the House of Lords and am active in the cross-party Parliamentary Aviation Group. I look forward to promoting amateur flying and the interests of the LAA.
