Apart from offering a number of roads to affordable flying, we also work at home and in mainland Europe to safeguard the rights of recreational aviation. If you are an enthusiast of the sport, then that work is ensuring its future health and longevity for the benefit of everybody associated with it, whether they fly or not.
The Association also publishes a monthly magazine, Light Aviation, which will keep you abreast of what is happening in recreational flying; many members say the magazine alone is worth the annual membership fee as it is packed with useful information, interesting features and news.
We have local LAA branches and Clubs around the country where you can meet fellow members and get involved in organising events or simply socialise and enjoy the entertainment they provide.
We also have an expanding range of benefits for members including special deals for car hire from Europcar, hotel deals from Accor and simulator flying from Virtual aerospace.
And of course we have our annual Rally at Northampton Sywell, the largest gathering of homebuilt and permit aircraft outside of the US. As a member you receive low cost admission and access to the airside parking so you can walk amongst the hundreds of interesting aircraft that have flown in and meet the pilots. It’s a great way to learn about some of the many aircraft that fly on a permit.
