RV10 CLOSE TO FLIGHT
Being readied for flight in the hangar which is integral with the LAA’s office building is Chairman Roger Hopkinson’s four-seat Vans RV10, which is the first example of the type to reach completion in the UK. The RV10, which is of typical Vans all-metal format with a cantilever low wing, is powered by a six-cylinder Lycoming IO-540 engine with MT constant speed propeller. First flight is expected in July, in the hands of Stan Hodgkins. Vans’s own RV-10 demonstrator has already been the subject of a flight review by Francis Donaldson, who found the aircraft to be well behaved so no great snags are anticipated with Roger’s machine which has been built exactly by the book.
