Codes normally used at the top of the ticked columns are thus :
- A-A = All fixed wing airframes
- A-C1 = All fixed wing airframes of primarily composite construction (simple only)
- A-C2 = All fixed wing airframes of primarily composite construction (all)
- A-M = All fixed wing airframes of primarily metal construction
- A-W = All fixed wing airframes of primarily wooden construction
- E = All engines in fixed wing aircraft
- G = Gyroplanes and their engines
- K = Kit aircraft and their engines
- M = Microlight aircraft and their engines
- V = Vintage aircraft and their engines (i.e. Pipers, Luscombes, Jodels etc)
- 4SA = 4-seat aircraft
- FBM = Factory-built Microlights
Note. The above groups often overlap; for example A-A includes airframes described in AC1, AC2, A-M, A-W, K, M and V. Similarly, for example, A-W includes aircraft described in K, M and V if they happen to be of primarily wooden construction.
*Special
Where the inspector's approval includes a tick in the last column, the column will be headed by the word 'special' and an asterisk will appear at the top of the column and in an additional line under the standard approval. This caters for any unusual approvals that can't be covered by our regular descriptions and also when an approval is specific to type(s).
