As part of the National Young Aviators weekend, 6 pilots from the Devon Strut flew a group of young people from Newton Abbot College on Saturday 19th September at Dunkeswell airfield. The tally was 25 teenagers and a rather large number of ‘bigger kids’, namely several parents and teachers who came along as well. The Devon ‘Youth Build-a-Plane’ project was due to be used to help with the flying but had a minor engine problem so was used as a static display that nevertheless generated a great deal of excitement. Many thanks to Brendan Procter for the use of Dunkeswell as a venue, to the pilots and an extra special thanks to the ground crew.
