Gloster Strut
by Mike Fortescue
At Staverton on Sat 10 May we flew 24 (I think) children and one adult
helper from Gloucestershire Young Carers. This in ~6 2- and 4-seaters of
various types. Staverton waived landing feees, and once the Isle of Man
scheduled flight was gone let us park by the terminal building. The airport
management also let us set up a control point in the terminal hall, so the
departing passengers got to see and hear about it.
The kids were great, and amazingly cheerful given that they all have a
stressful time looking after disabled or otherwise unwell siblings or
parents. I flew in addition to the caring younger sister the
wheelchair-bound older one (it had not occurred to their single mum that
this would even be possible!).
