Propeller Gearbox Inspection (Rotax 912/914 Series Engines)

Please note that the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has published Emergency Mandatory Permit Directive MPD-2026-003-E, which was issued on 30^th June 2026 and became effective on 07^th July 2026.

The directive applies to Rotax 912 UL, 912 ULS, 912 iS Sport, and 914 UL series engines fitted with affected propeller gearboxes as defined in the MPD. The MPD mandates inspection of the affected propeller gearboxes due to a potential assembly process deviation that could result in oil loss and/or an in-flight engine shutdown. Please note for the most seriously affected engines mandatory action is required BEFORE THE NEXT FLIGHT.

Please review the MPD to determine whether it applies to your aircraft or engine and ensure that the required inspection and any necessary corrective actions are completed within the specified compliance times. If you have an engine of one of the effected types, please note the pink pages of the engine logbook should have a new entry made for this MPD, either on the applicable or non-applicable page, as appropriate.
