< Back MTD-02-2025 Issue 3 - Mission M108 Nose Leg Failure 21 Jul 2026 MTD-02-2025 Issue 3 - Mission M108 Nose Leg Failure This MTD is applicable to all Mission M108 aircraft fitted with the tricycle landing gear configuration (LSTC 1-002). This MTD is issued in order to mandate inspection of the affected area of the original nose leg or the installation of the new design standard of nose leg. It also clarifies and expands some aspects of the Lambert Aircraft Service Bulletin (Lambert Aircraft Engineering Service Bulletin SB-108-515 Rev 1). If MTD-05-2025 Issue 2 has been complied with, no further action is required at Issue 3. < Back Malcolm McBride Update 6 Feb 2026 Malcolm's funeral will take place on 20 th February at 11 am at the village church: St Mary's Church Manor Farm Lane Chesterton Bicester OX26 1UD The wake will be at: The Kitchen and Bar Whitelands Farm Sports Ground Whitelands Way Bicester OX26 1AJ The LAA are sad to announce the death of former LAA Airworthiness Engineer Malcolm McBride, who passed away suddenly on Saturday after suffering a heart attack. Malcolm, who worked for the LAA between 2007 and 2021 was, during that time, responsible for approving many thousands of Permit revalidations on behalf of LAA members and helping members with cheerful advice about all aspects of looking after their aircraft and negotiating the regulations. Malcolm's regular 'Safety Spot' engineering articles in the LAA magazines were always amusing as well as informative, and attracted a significant following amongst LAA members. He was also an LAA Inspector for over 35 years. Our condolences to Malcolm's wife, Janice, and other members of his family. Funeral details to follow. Next Previous

< Back New LAA Inspector - Craig Ransome 16 Mar 2026 We are pleased to welcome Craig Ransome as a new LAA Inspector, having attended an LAA Inspector Assessment Day at Turweston recently. Craig is an apprentice-trained B1 Licensed Aircraft Engineer who began his career as a Production Fitter with British Aerospace, working on the assembly of military aircraft. He later moved into the commercial aviation sector, gaining experience with several airlines and developing a broad range of maintenance skills. He achieved B1.1 (turbine aeroplanes) and later B1.2 (piston aeroplanes) licences, demonstrating proven capability in aircraft maintenance, fault diagnosis, and airworthiness certification. < Back New LAA Inspector - Andrew Williams 31 Mar 2025 We are pleased to welcome Andrew Williams as a new LAA Inspector, having attended an LAA Inspector Assessment Day at Turweston recently. Andrew has been involved with aircraft maintenance for approximately 36 years. Types he has worked on include Rolls-Royce Dart and Pratt & Whitney PT6-powered passenger and freighter aircraft, followed by working on short-to-medium range jet aircraft. For the last 10 years, Andrew has been involved with general aviation single and twin-engined aircraft, carrying out maintenance and certification. He holds a CAA approval to perform Airworthiness Reviews in order to issue Airworthiness Review Certificates. His qualifications include: CAA Part 66 Licence, inc. Full Group 3 and a BCAR Sec L Licence. In the LAA ‘world,’ Andrew has a share in a Jodel 1050. Congratulations Andrew. Welcome to the team! Next Previous

< Back MTD-01-2026 Issue 1 Published - Shadow Aircraft Oratex Disbonding 15 Apr 2026 MTD-01-2026 - 'Oratex Disbonding' was issued today for Shadow aircraft. This MTD can be found HERE and is also attached below. This follows a reported incident in the UK in which Oratex covering on the upper surface of a Streak Shadow wing suffered a largescale disbond while in flight. No LAA Shadow aircraft with Oratex covering may fly after the effective date of this MTD unless you comply with this MTD. Please refer to the MTD-01-2026 document for full details of the mandatory requirements . He has rebuilt a Turbulent, Nipper, Colibri, Pitts, Vans RV-4 and completed new build projects including an Isaacs Fury and plans Replica SE5a. He has experience in VW engines, having rebuilt several. In his 30 years of LAA membership, he has owned over 20 LAA types, giving him a broad exposure to the maintenance of different aircraft. < Back Alert A-07-2025 - Glastar Aileron Servo-Tab Pushrod Cracking 25 Jul 2025 LAA Alert A-07-2025 - Glastar Aileron Servo-Tab Pushrod Cracking A cracked aileron servo-tab pushrod was found on a UK Glastar aircraft. The pushrod consists of a thin-walled aluminium tube with an adjustable clevis at one end, and a fixed clevis at the other. The crack was at the adjustable end of the pushrod, and extended from the end of the aluminium tube to the hole approximately 1 inch from the end. A cracked aileron servo-tab pushrod must be considered unairworthy, and replaced before further flight. A-07-2024 can be found HERE and is also attached. < Back New Alert for LAA Eurostar Aircraft 3 Dec 2024 LAA Engineering have issued Alert A-03-2024 to highlight the recent reported incidents of corrosion of the Bowden cable ‘inner’ on Eurostar elevator trim tab cables. In response to these incidents, Airmasters UK, the UK agent for the Eurostar range, have recently issued Service Bulletin SB/EUR/022, Issue 2 which calls for a special check, before next flight, on the friction of the cable ‘inner’ when slid manually backwards and forwards in the ‘outer’.
